Tamiya 1/35th M1025 HUMVEE Armament Carrier

Built mostly from the box, and modeled to represent a vehicle used by U.S. Army Rangers in Somalia around 1993, and ready to go on patrol (or it would be dirtier!). An antenna mount was added to the rear corner, and the weapon mount was modified to carry the M2HB. Some stowage was added to the interior, including a SINCGARS radio set by Pro-Art.

The camouflage is the standard NATO pattern for Humvees, applied with Tamiya acrylics. Weathering was done with MIG pigments and some thinned buff oversprays. Ranger vehicles appear to have been generally unmarked. The sitting gunner is a bash of the two kit figures. The 3-color desert uniform was painted with Vallejo acrylics, and the face with oils over enamel.

References included “Humvee At War” by Greene and Stewart and lots of material from the Internet, including the details of the NATO camo pattern, the standard stowage layout for the M1025, and which uniforms the Rangers were wearing in Somalia at that time.
