Generation Iron took to Instagram to share a post commemorating the win and wrote: "The NEW Mr. Olympia champion Derek Lunsford! He becomes the 18th champion ever and first to win an Olympia title in two divisions".

He won the November 4 Finals - Strength Unleashed category.

The clash between the then-reigning Mr. Olympia champ, Hadi Choopan, and 2022 Olympia silver-medalist Derek Lunsford was undoubtedly the most hyped battle at the show.

This isn't the first time Lunsford claimed the winning crown at Mr Olympia, as he first achieved top place in October 2021.

Hadi Choopan

Hadi Choopan, an Iranian bodybuilder who won the title of Mr Olympia in 2022 came second place in this year's event - losing his first-place spot to Derek Lunsford.

Choopan, nick-named "The Persian Wolf" because of his origins, previously placed for My Olympia from 2018 to 2021, earning two third-place finishes and one fourth-place.

Following Choopan becoming dethroned by Lunsford, the second-placer appeared frustrated and stormed off the stage as the new winner was being crowned.

A fitness and bodybuilding-related page on Instagram posted a video of the incident and wrote, @hadi_choopan left the stage angry after losing the title.”

Samson Dauda

Samson Dauda, known as the Nigerian Lion, had been working towards Mr Olympia for years before placing third in 2023.

He placed sixth in the 2022 Mr Olympia as well as fourth in both the Boston Prop and Arnold Classic USA Pro the same year.

Dauda has risen an impressive four spots from his previous finish, with many fans suggesting that he could be on his way to winning the Shadow Trophy in the next event.

Brandon Curry

Veteran Brandon Curry, at age 41, retained his fourth-place finish from a year ago.

Known among fans as "The Prodigy", Curry won Mr Olympia back in 2019 and placed second behind Mamdouh "Big Ramy" Elssibay for the next two consecutive years.

Fans were shocked when Curry placed fifth in last year's competition with some saying he "should have won" due to his unbelievable physique.

Aside from Mr Olympia, Curry has won the Arnold Classic, hosted by legendary bodybuilder Arnold Schwarzenegger.

Andrew Jacked

In fifth place was Andrew Jacked, a Nigerian IFBB professional bodybuilder, trainer, and fitness influencer.

The 38-year-old also achieved victory at the 2023 Texas Pro in Arlington, Texas.

Andrew Jacked performed well in his Olympia debut, growing from 260lbs at his Arnold Classic debut to 290lbs at the 2022 Mr Olympia, while presenting an impressive physique.

He placed eighth in the Men's Open division, ahead of top contender, William Bonac as well as fellow debutantes Michael Krizanek and Blessing Awodibu.
