Creating a roadmap ensures that you are working towards your goals and that you know what steps to take in order to get there.


Self-Reflection and Goal Setting

The first step in creating a personalized career roadmap is self-reflection. A survey conducted by Gallup revealed that employees who have the opportunity to use their strengths every day are six times more likely to be engaged in their work and three times more likely to report having a good quality of life. Making sure you pursue something you actually enjoy, will A) make the journey a lot more fun and B) You will be less likely to get discouraged by the obstacles and challenges you will face along the way. Relevant: Your goal should align with your career aspirations and be relevant to your current situation. For instance, if you're interested in marketing, a relevant goal could be "I want to complete a digital marketing certification to enhance my skills and advance in my marketing career."

Time-bound: Set a specific timeframe or deadline for achieving your goal. For example, instead of saying "I want to improve my public speaking skills," a time-bound goal would be "I want to enroll in a public speaking course and deliver a successful presentation at the company conference within three months."
