I already know what I’ll be wearing on repeat this summer: my favorite strappy sandals. For several seasons now I’ve been trying to buy more thoughtfully to avoid irresponsible fashion consumption. Sure, I sometimes get carried away by trends—who doesn’t?—but I think a lot more about the pieces I buy and whether I will really make the most of them. Even more so when it comes to footwear. The goal is to find styles that can last beyond one season.
I achieved that goal last year when I found the perfect strappy sandals at Zara. The minimalist, flat shoes had straps that attached to the toe with a small metal ring and were just what I needed to combine with all my summer outfits. I didn’t take the shoes off all season. I wore them to dinners with friends, on a road trip along the Portuguese coast, and to summer parties. I could wear them with maxidresses, wide pants, shorts, a little black dress…practically everything. They became my most used accessory of 2023 (and maybe also of my life?), and everyone asked me about them.
The good news? This season they’re still in style and available at Zara. And yes, in case you’re wondering, they’re totally comfortable.
