This race location is like a fairy tale. To race in the Engadin Valley on the south side of the Swiss Alps in the summer is spectacular – hanging glaciers, emerald-colored lakes, big mountains, winding trails, and Swiss cows.

Why ENGADIN?

This race, hosted in the fantastic Engadin Valley in Switzerland, was the first ÖTILLÖ race outside Sweden. It launched the international Swimrun movement in 2014. The race venue is located in the wonderful village of Silvaplana, between the well-known St. Moritz and the beautiful mountain villages of Sils and Maloja.

In Engadin, you will run on trails through forests of Swiss stone-pine trees, passing picturesque little mountain villages with its distinct Engadin-style architecture. You will swim in fresh mountain lakes that glitter in the sun. The weather in the mountains at this time of year can be anything from a nice summer day to a cold, hard day out. The altitude of 1800 metres adds to the challenge. Be mentally prepared for the worst and enjoy the best.

  • TIME 7 at 16:30

We have cut-offs in our events to make sure that we can have a safe race, these are put in place so that everyone has a possibility to finish before dark and without jeopardizing the safety of others by stretching the safety organization too much. Please respect this and the people enforcing them.

In the middle of July, it is usually summer in the Engadin Valley with day time temperatures of around 20 degrees C. However, the valley floor is at 1700 meters above sea level and this means that there could even be snowfall.

Water temperatures will be between 10 – 14 degrees C depending on where along the course. Make sure you dress accordingly and consider wearing something under your wetsuit if you tend to get cold on the long swims. Use a Neoprene cap if you are not used to cold water.

Like everywhere we can have wind, rain and un-seasonably cold weather. Make sure you bring clothes to handle this.

We welcome all spectators, friends and families to participate in our events.
