This 1997 AM General M1123 HMMWV was originally designed for use by the US military and is powered by a naturally-aspirated 6.5-liter diesel V8 linked with a four-speed automatic transmission and a dual-range transfer case. The truck is finished in drab camouflage over green canvas upholstery, and additional equipment includes a camouflage soft top and doors, Truck-Lite LED headlights, recovery rings, a rear pintle hitch, Trail Worthy Fab 24-bolt beadlock wheels, portal axles, and inboard-mounted disc brakes. It was acquired by the seller in 2022 and is said to have been serviced with a replacement air filter, a coolant flush, an oil change, and transmission and differential fluid changes under current ownership. This M1123 HMMWV is now offered at no reserve in California with a clean Montana title in the name of the seller’s LLC.
The High-Mobility Multipurpose Wheeled Vehicle (HMMWV) went into production for military use in 1984, and the later M1123 variant was used primarily by the United States Marine Corps. This example is finished in drab camouflage and features a matching soft top and doors with zippered windows. Additional exterior details include USMC markings, Truck-Lite LED headlights, front and rear recovery rings, a rear pintle hitch, and rear mud flaps. There is no windshield wiper motor installed. Tears in the soft top have been patched, though the seller notes it is not watertight.
Trail Worthy Fab 16.5″ 24-bolt beadlock wheels were reportedly fitted with PVC inserts and mounted with 37×12.5″ BFGoodrich Baja T/A tires under current ownership, and a matching spare is strapped to the bed. The seller states that a Bluetooth tire pressure monitoring system is installed and that the half-shaft axle boots were replaced and the portal hub fluid was changed under current ownership. Stopping power is provided by inboard-mounted disc brakes.
The cabin houses four bucket seats trimmed in green canvas upholstery along with color-coordinated flooring and door panels. Ammunition boxes are positioned on the center tunnel, and additional appointments include three-point front seatbelts, a keyed fuel shutoff switch, and tan rubber floormats. The front right seat is stained and has a torn seatback, and the rear seat bottoms are torn
The three-spoke steering wheel fronts a 60-mph speedometer and gauges for fuel level, oil pressure, coolant temperature, and voltage. There is no tachometer present. The five-digit odometer shows 832 miles, approximately 500 of which were added under current ownership. Total mileage is unknown.
The 6.5-liter diesel V8 is said to have been serviced with a replacement air filter, a coolant flush, and an oil change under current ownership. The seller notes that the engine runs hot as well as smoke on initial startup and that the batteries are due for replacement.
Power is sent to all four wheels through a four-speed automatic transmission and a dual-range transfer case. The fluids for the transmission and differentials are said to have been changed under current ownership. The seller notes corrosion on the frame rails.
Original Serial Number 182313 shown above matches the VIN listed on the Montana title. A second data plate notes that an Inspect and Repair Only as Necessary (IROAN) service was performed in April 2014 at the Marine Depot Maintenance Command (MDMC) in Barstow, California, and tags affixed to the engine and transmission list corresponding rebuild dates.
