First came shoes (and a bazillion rap songs memorializing their red bottoms). Then came nail polish and lipstick. Next up on the French fashion designer's move towards très chic world domination: A collection of three fragrances that go on sale today.
Bikini Questa Sera, Tornade Blonde, and Trouble in Heaven (pictured above, in order) share just one element: A single high-note that the designer likens to a vibrating ping of a piano key. In the first, it's the warmth of white night flowers jasmine and tuberose. In Tornade Blonde, it's a fetishistic blend of red rose, cassis, and sweet violet. And in the last, patchouli, tonka, and amber come together in an earthy and provoking elixir. Each of the three fragrances retails for 2.7 oz/$275 on christianlouboutin.com.
Of course, it's not just the scented liquor that's worth the investment.The undulating glass bottles were designed by Thomas Heatherwick, the architect responsible for the Olympic cauldron in London, a cornerless building in Singapore, and a repurposed grain silo art museum in Cape Town. (If you look closely, you'll see this bottle forms a sort of loop, an idea Louboutin thought embodied the life of the liquid inside.) "I wanted these fragrances to enhance an aspect of [a woman's] personality, or perhaps reveal something about her that no one knew before," Louboutin said in a statement. "I want to give women the means to express themselves and to delight in their femininity." We're guessing he succeeded tenfold.
