Game of Thrones actress Emilia Clarke’s Venice, California home just sold for $4.4 million. Dragons not included.

The triple-threat artist of TV, film and Broadway is in the midst of a skyrocketing career that’s likely moving her up the California’s A-list coast. But her Venice pad proves she has good taste.

The modest 2,817-square-foot gated residence sits on one of Venice’s best streets—near the beach and privatized by red-brick walls, hedges, and manicured trees. The two-bedroom, three-bath home offers a cozy indoor-outdoor vibe with architecturally curious spaces, a pool and garden patio for entertaining guests.

This is the town where Jim Morrison used to hang before hitting it big. Still a celebrity haunt, it’s a vibrant neighborhood where residents like Ronda Rousey, Ian McShane, Jennifer Grey, and Anna Paquin can blend in with charismatic locals. It’s walking distance to Abbot Kinney Boulevard’s shops, galleries and restaurants.

Clarke’s home was on the market for 127 pandemic days, but she’s used to grinding out success. According to her IMDB bio, the Emmy-nominated actress reportedly worked up to six jobs (bartender, waitress, call center) before landing her role as Daenerys Targaryen on Game of Thrones, where she eventually made $1.2 million per episode (time to upgrade!), according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Clarke is an avid horseback rider, ice skater, rower, runner, sailer, skier, swimmer and tennis player, so her athleticism no doubt helped her score the TV role of a lifetime. Sure, she didn’t ride a real dragon, but green screen acting can be just as challenging.

Her badass Thrones role catapulted her to A-list status, leading to other physically demanding film roles as young Sara Connor in Terminator Genisys and Qi’ra in Solo: A Star Wars Story. She also signed on to replace Amber Heard as Mera in Aquaman 2. Daenerys, Qi’ra, Mera—even her full name, Emilia Isobel Euphemia Rose Clarke, is a chore.

Clarke was named one of Time magazine’s most influential people and Esquire’s Sexiest Woman Alive in 2015–a title that only has currency in Hollywood. Literal currency.

With that level of success and fame, a home upgrade makes sense. But her Venice house was also a good place to wind down out of the spotlight.

Built in 2009 on just .12 acres, this secluded B-list celebrity starter home was designed by architect Abramson Teiger Architects, known for its modern living southern California-style designs. The firm succeeded in maximizing the limited space, transforming it into a prized sanctuary.

The unique living room boasts soaring 15-foot ceilings, floor-to-ceiling windows and a fireplace surrounded by built-in bookshelves. For some escapism, doors on both sides open to a front patio framed by olive trees, and a courtyard with covered veranda and 30-foot pool.

Soapstone kitchen countertops offset custom wood cabinets that span the first floor. The den and office space open to the courtyard. A floating staircase leads two en-suite bedrooms. The master includes a walk-in closet and spa bathroom, all of which invite California sunshine.

Juliette Hohnen from Douglas Elliman and Ruby Fay of Pinnacle Estate Properties held the listing.
