"Great unit to practice"

Overall: 4 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
I am satisfied with this unit as a practice one. Some day I will want to play with effects and amp models and will buy a desktop unit for it, or a USB device.

Sound
The sound overall is very good. Much better than an amp with headphones plugged in, because POD emulates cabinet as well as an amplifier. There's a hiss on higher volume, but it is barely heard with volume on comfortable level.

Features
Nice selection of amps and effects. Delay time can be set, which I miss on my amp. What I miss here is a separate knobs for gain and equalizer. No AC adapter included.

Ease of Use
You just plug your headphones, guitar, turn one knob to selects sound type (amplifier to be emulated + gain) and play. That's all. The device doesn't require any attention when you play or switch style, so you continue concentrating on playing.

Quality
The only problem is that "multi-selection" knobs are not very good aligned with the silkscreen, so you need to turn a knob there and back to find a switching position. After some use you will get used to it and feel fine.

Value
Most people complain that for a little more money you can buy a Pocket POD, which is much smarter, has more amps and effects, etc. I did try to use Pocket POD for a couple of days, and finally bought an Express edition. To switch style I just turn a knob, whether on regular Pocket read more POD I need to press a button... 10 or 20 times! So, here's my advice: thinking of a unit, consider its purpose rather than features onboard. If you love to play with features, sounds, and want a maximum versatility for the buck, buy a regular Pocket POD. But if you need a decent device which will let you practice virtually any style and will not distract your attention from playing/practicing, Express one is your choice.

Manufacturer Support
The tech support works through a forum, so it looks like a bit detached and unreliable. However, they answered my only question quick, so I shouldn't complain.

The Wow Factor
The device looks cool. Knobs are flat and don't prevent putting it into a bag. I like the color, although it would be nice to have a choice.
