'That was awesome!' Video shows trio of whales breach in unison off Provincetown, Mass.
A family fishing off the coast of Cape Cod was treated to a rare and spectacular sight when a trio of whales breached the surface simultaneously.
Luckily for the rest of us, someone on the boat was recording video at that moment.
"Wow. Wow. Oh my God," one woman can be heard saying on the video.
"That was awesome," another voice said.
"I (expletive) got it on video," a third voice confirms.
At that point, a fourth whale also lept out of the water.
The video was recorded by Robert Addie of New Hampshire, who was on a Cape Cod fishing trip with his daughters for his birthday.
"I was stunned and then I just felt the joy. I felt the joy of being with my girls. I thought about my three girls. A lot of emotions came up," Addie said. "They were only about 300 to 400 yards away, so we heard it too. We heard the blow holes. We heard the belly flop, as I like to call it."
Addie said the experience was made even more powerful by the fact that he recently returned from a weekslong humanitarian trip to Ukraine, where he aided troops who were on the frontlines.
