A Sexy Ex Machina Robot Is Catfishing Guys on Tinder at SXSW

Life imitates art through a clever marketing ploy! Ex Machina, a movie about a seductive robot and a man who falls in love with her, is catfishing men on Tinder at SXSW. A friend of a writer at Adweek was in town for the event when he started chatting with a lovely woman named Ava, who asked him some odd questions like “Have you ever been in love?” and “What makes you human?” This would probably be creepy if the woman, photos of Ex Machina star Alicia Vikander, wasn’t so beautiful. By the end of the exchange, “Ava” directed Tinder user Brock to her Instagram page promoting the film.

Here was Brock’s exchange with “Ava”:

Brock told Adweek the bot “toyed with my emotions so hard.” The lesson? Yes, that beautiful person asking you existential questions is indeed a robot.
