Since its launch in the summer of 2000, the Volvo S60 has evolved through 3 consecutive generations. The first, marketed until 2009, focused on safety. 2019 Volvo XC60 : a new era
The all-new XC60 at the 2017 Geneva Auto Show is available now at John Scotti Volvo dealership. It is a completely redesigned model that benefits from all the innovations launched on the new generation Volvo 90 cluster. Aesthetically, this results in the arrival of LED headlights with T-shaped "Thor's hammer" daytime running lights. The wide grille is also typical of Volvo latest productions. The rear area features L-shaped taillights which give the SUV a striking look.
The 2019 Volvo XC60's interior boasts a very refined atmosphere also inspired by the 90 range. This translates into an astonishing combination of noble materials such as wood, leather and a wide array of precious metals. Just like in the Volvo XC90, S90 and V90, the infotainment system is displayed on a very responsive and user-friendly touch screen. Thanks to its high ground clearance and smart AWD system, the 2019 Volvo XC60 can talk its way out of the most demanding terrains while providing extreme comfort.
The 2019 Volvo XC60 is available with the 400-hp T8 Twin Engine plug-in hybrid powertrain offered with all-wheel drive as standard. It will be joined by petrol engines equipped with AWD as well.
When it comes to safety, the 2019 Volvo XC60 goes even further than any other car currently on the market by inaugurating an all-new support steering assistance which adds up to the already existing Lane Keeping Aid available in several Volvo models.
The steering assistance is automatically engaged in three different scenarios. The first one is related to emergency braking : when an obstacle is detected on the road and that breaks won't be able to stop the car in time, the City Safety technology will automatically activate the steering assistance to make the car turn in the safest direction while breaking. This feature is active between 50 and 100 kph.
The second scenario is linked to an all-new safety measure added to the 2019 Volvo XC60, the Oncoming Lane Mitigation. When this technology detects that the car is slightly moving toward the oncoming lane, it alerts the driver and provide automatic steering assistance to guide the car back into its own lane. This system is active between 60-140 kph.
Finally, the third possible application of the steering assistance has to do with blind spots. On 2019 Volvo XC60s equipped with the optional Blind Spot Information System, the steer assist functionality helps to avoid potential collisions with vehicles in a blind spot by steering the car back into its own lane and away from danger.
Thanks to all these safety equipment, the Volvo XC60 2018 has received the highest score in the safety test awarded by the independent insurance agency IIHS (Insurance Institute for Highway Safety). A routine for this vehicle that has already been ranked among the best in its class for several years
The safest car ever made according to EURO NCAP
This new Volvo model will therefore be one of the safest vehicle on earth, if not the safest. You can ask for a test drive at John Scotti Volvo, your Volvo dealership in Montreal and Laval, so that you can discover it by yourself.
