Last night, Manish Arora, India's global transplant to the world of fashion, opened Kornit Fashion Week with a show in London's Freemason’s Hall. Kornit Fashion Week— a three day celebration of fashion, sustainability and transformation, aims to uplift conscious practices and features top designers who create their collections within weeks deploying digital productions. Arora, with his trippy prints, intriguing cast of characters and virtual reality approach was primed was primed to be the perfect opener for the diverse fashion week.
Attended by the likes of Noor Fares, Nikhil Mansata and Imran Amed, among other industry insiders, the showcase was a celebration of diversity, colour and inclusivity in all its forms. Embracing a notch of Metaverse, Arora also added futuristic elements through the special VR Experience in the show. Incredible performances by vocalist and composer Bishi; 'living sculpture' Daniel Lismore; performance artists Is She Hingry, Charity Kase, Pandemonium, Michael Moon; and recording artist Virgin X, were all part of the presentation and also dressed in Manish Arora.
“I’m all about colour and its uplifting effect on humanity–so what better way to celebrate the colours and beauty of the world than by bringing some of these incredible and diverse artists together, and then take them from our own reality into the metaverse.” said Arora. Replete with colours, craftsmanship and creative synergy, Arora’s collection was a repository of everything we’ve come to expect of the designer — a celebration of futurism and cultural diversity.
Over the years, Manish Arora has established his eponymous label as a paragon of extravagance. At times inspired by Burning Man and at others, by his own Indian roots where colour triumphs and celebrates life. The NIFT Delhi graduate, who has now scaled indelible heights in international fashion remains one of the most important stories of taking India to the world. Now, the designer turns author with a book dedicated to the flavours and dishes that embark a journey towards home. ‘We Are Family’ is a visual treat, much like Arora's kaleidoscopic collections.
