Exclusive sneak peek: 'Thomas & Friends' pulls into station with season debut
The iconic blue Thomas the Tank Engine is back for a 23rd season, and he's on some globe-trotting adventures to explore new cultures and countries.
Airing May 18 on Nick Jr. (check local listings), "Thomas & Friends" debut episode includes two action-packed stories and USA TODAY has an exclusive sneak peek.
In "The Other Big Engine," Thomas is on his first trip to Brazil and working the railway when he encounters Gustavo. His first meeting with the big, blue engine is a messy one and he finds that this stranger reminds him of Gordon back home.
Then, stay tuned for “Grudge Match.” Raul tries to beat Thomas in a game, but his super‐competitive nature get him into trouble.
The season includes 20 episodes and invites preschoolers to learn more about new customs as Thomas also travels to Italy, China, India and Australia.
A continuing theme this year will be "girl power," with the female engines showing strength, overcoming challenges and succeeding at difficult jobs.
