Final fling for the exotic brand

The story of Alejandro de Tomaso's passion for cars and the marque he created would, as the cliche goes, make a fine Hollywood script. It's filled with dramas, false starts and the occasional triumph.

Like its predecessors, the Guaro employed a powertrain from a more established manufacturer.

In our feature on the marque we note: "Powered by a 4.0-litre BMW V8, the Guara remained in production for more than a decade but fewer than 100 were made. A Ford V8 version announced in 1998 was de Tomaso’s final design and scheduled for US distribution by the Qvale family, whose association with the brand began in 1967."

This example is a late build with a mid-mounted 4.6lt Ford V8 and six-speed manual Getrag transmission.

The owner says it has under 1000km on the odometer and has been dry-stored for much of its life. Located in Perth, it's on the market at $530,000.
