През месец март 2019 година Община Поморие бе одобрена за участие в Европейската инициатива WiFi4EU, даваща на местните жители безплатен достъп до висококачествен интернет за период от поне три години. Мрежата вече е конфигурирана, като е инсталирано Wi-Fi оборудване на четири публични места, където до момента нямаше точки за достъп, информираха от Общината.
Жителите и гостите на Поморие могат да се възползват от новата услуга, посещавайки: градинката до НЧ “Светлина 1939”, Исторически музей – Поморие и пешеходната зона в центъра на града. Безплатен WiFi има и в МБАЛ – Поморие, а наименованието на мрежата е именно WiFi4EU.
Както вече не веднъж TheMayor.eu е информирал, основната цел на инициативата WiFi4EU е не само да свързва хората, но и да подпомага културния и историческия обмен на информация. По този начин всички регистрирани общини в платформата ще станат част от една общност и ще бъдат свързани с останалите участници в мащабния проект. Още по-голямата и дългосрочна цел на ЕС е чрез подобряването на интернет връзката да се стимулират услуги като електронно правителство, електронно здравеопазване, онлайн банкиране и видео обажданията.
