Corynactis chilensis is a small and very pretty coral anemone whose locality descriptions are unfortunately no longer available.
However, Chile, South-East Pacific, is predominantly given as the place of occurrence, where Prof. Dr. Erasmo Macaya Horta was also able to take his photos.
It is also interesting to note that there appear to be no reports of finds from Peru and Argentina, countries bordering Chile.
According to WoRMS, Corynactis chilensis is a recognized species, although various scientists point to a very close resemblance to Corynactis carnea
Comment: The name Corynactis chilensis was created for some specimens that were identified as Corynactis carnea by McMurrich (1904).
