OneeChanbara is still kicking, bringing NSFW zombie-slashing action to PS4 this fall

D3 Publisher and developer Tamsoft's OneeChanbara series — in which a woman wearing some combination of bikini and cowgirl outfit slays zombies — turns 10 years old later this year. In October, it's making the leap to the PlayStation 4, with OneeChanbara Z2 Chaos.

The OneeChanbara series started out as part of D3's line of budget games, the Simple 2000 series, which also gave rise to Earth Defense Force. Since 2004's Simple 2000 Series Vol. 61: The OneeChanbara, D3 Publisher has issued nine titles in the franchise and two low budget movies have been made. Some of those titles have come to the West under names like Zombie Zone and Onechanbara: Bikini Samurai Squad.

The next entry, OneeChanbara Z2 Chaos, isn't cheap. It's priced at 6,800 yen (about $66).

And while few would praise the franchise for its quality — since it mostly trades in excessive gore and titillation — D3 bringing the series to PS4 may actually be a positive sign for the console, which is currently wanting for more natively developed Japanese games.

OneeChanbara fans and curiosity seekers can watch the trailer above, which is NSFW due to some nudity, to see how the series will look when it transitions to PS4 on Oct. 30.
