Don't worry, the interior will be better.

Oh, wait.

I was keen to see that interior too, as certainly Giugiaro can’t mess up an italian avantgarde interior …..

eek

I’d rather be sitting in a Rover 75!

British Leyland/ Austin could not get that shape to work, with the Maxi.

Bugatti neither.

I'd go as far as to say that it's close to being the ugliest car I've ever seen.
I would argue if you look at the metal below glass level on the side rear qtr profile, it looks very panamera like!

I'd have to agree. What an utterly repugnant thing.

Gopping

Fortunately someone influential in the company at the time with functional eyes put a stop to the madness. How did it even get that far?!

it’s notable how the V12 manual wasn’t taken on as a powertrain choice for luxury saloons going forward.
Here's another cancelled luxury sedan V12 manual, Mazda's Amati 1000

Then I think BMW’s project engineers of the 1989’s and 1990’s need a shout out as they designed and built an E32 project code named Goldfish which had a 6.7 litre V16 which was bolted to a manual gearbox so the ‘full power potential of the engine could be explored’ biggrin

Surely the fact the Lotus Carlton made it to 177mph and this to 186, makes the Carllon far more remarkable, and yet is tossed off, airily, by a hack trying to conjure plaudits for what is one of the most revolting cars I've ever seen. More lazy, cliched writing.

EDIT Should have said given the car the Carlton was based on, and its compromises.
