NOTE: UPDATED FOR 2020

Last year was full of big additions for Chevy with the release of the all-new 2019 Chevrolet Blazer to the SUV lineup and the debut of the 2021 Trailblazer at China’s 2019 Auto Shanghai exhibition. Not only are we getting to drive and see first-hand what this Blazer can do, but we are also starting to get sneak peaks at what the all-new 2021 Chevrolet Trailblazer will offer. To get a better understanding of what improvements are in the works, let’s first see what the all-new 2019 Chevrolet Blazer has to offer.

2019 Chevrolet Blazer

This two-row midsize SUV features a sporty design with sleek curves, a bold grille, ultra-thin LED daytime running lamps, and three distinct design packages to choose from. Under the hood, you will find an ECOTEC 2.5L engine with an estimated mpg of 27 on the highway. For a boost in performance, the available 3.6L V6 engine features 308 horsepower, a 9-speed automatic transmission, and a maximum towing capacity of 4,500 pounds. The interior features three unique interior designs that correspond with the design packages, 64.2 cubic feet of cargo space, and the latest Chevrolet Infotainment 3 System, which features an 8-inch diagonal touchscreen, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and an available 4G LTE Wi-Fi Hotspot. The 2019 Blazer also includes an impressive lineup of advanced safety features: Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane Keep Assist with Lane Departure Warning, Rear Cross Traffic Alert, Forward Collision Alert, and Forward Automatic Braking.

While it may seem like it can’t get any better than that, it can. With the recent announcement of the newest addition to the Chevrolet SUV lineup, we have started to get sneak peaks at what the 2021 Chevrolet Trailblazer will offer.

New 2021 Chevrolet Trailblazer

Chevrolet saw how well the 2019 Blazer did and decided to add a new sporty subcompact crossover to their SUV lineup. The 2021 Chevrolet Trailblazer will fit between the Trax and Equinox crossovers and will be smaller than the Blazer. The Trailblazer will seat up to five and will feature distinct designs for more personalization, such as a standard two-tone roof on a sporty RS trim.

While we don’t yet know the Trailblazer’s starting price and engine specs, it’s safe to assume the price will fall between the starting prices of the 2019 Chevrolet Trax ($21,300) and the 2019 Equinox ($31,495). As for the engine, we expect to see engines similar to the 1.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder or 2.0-liter turbo found on the Equinox or maybe even the 1.4-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder found in the Trax.

Where the 2021 Trailblazer currently stands out is the inclusion of many standard driver assist features, including Front Pedestrian Braking, Lane Keep Assist with Lane Departure Warning, and Automatic Emergency Braking. Addition available safety features will include Rear Park Assist, a High-Definition Rear Camera, and Adaptive Cruise Control.

While we don’t have all the specifications of the 2021 Chevrolet Trailblazer, we have enough to know this new addition to the 2021 Chevrolet SUV lineup is one that’s got us excited. More will be released as we get closer to the release date expected in the middle of 2020.
