A Ministry of Defence worker from Portishead and a former Nailsea School pupil are among the New Year’s Honours list released today (Saturday).
Seamus Michael Oates has been awarded a CBE for services to education.
After being born in Bristol and being a student in Nailsea, he moved to London and is now the chief executive of TBAP Multi-Academy Trust.
Teresa Ann Cooper, from Portishead, has meanwhile been honoured with an OBE.
She has been named on the Queen’s honours list for services to defence.
