1955 Morgan +4 Roadster offered for the first time in over 47 years. A rare Transition car with curved grille and twin spares stored upright on the bustle back. Always garaged and sparingly used for many years. Odometer shows less than 37,000 miles and is believed to be accurate. The Triumph supplied 1.9 Liter engine (Serial # TS4409ME) starts easily, transmission shifts smoothly, car drives straight and brakes are responsive. The Engine is topped with a very rare and highly collectible, Polished Alloy Valve Cover adorned with a Cloisonné 4 color Triumph Logo. All accessible wood body framing is solid and no rust is evident on the body or chassis. Originally Green, the now White exterior is a 1979 repaint that shines nicely but also shows its age with, stone chips, some cracking, small dents and dings. Chrome trim is mostly original with only minor wear showing. Black canvas top fits well and is in very good condition with no rips or wear evident, rear plastic window is clear. Black vinyl seats with matching door panels and carpet. Steel wheels and chrome hub caps with old (replacement recommended) 5.25x16” bias ply tires. All lights, turn signals, horn, Tachometer, Speedometer, Amp and Oil Pressure Gauges function but Temperature and Fuel Gauges are not working. Recent work includes; draining of the fuel system, installation of a NOS mechanical fuel pump and new cleanable fuel filter, freeing of 1 carburetor float, replacement of brake master cylinder, wheel cylinders, brake shoes, flexible brake lines and all brake fluid plus a new Die-Hard battery. Included in the sale is; an original Tonneau cover that is not in great condition but could be used as a pattern, an original valve cover, an original jack and tire iron, a spare starter, an assortment of gaskets, a few SU carburetor parts, miscellaneous NOS engine parts in original Triumph Boxes, a set of re-buildable side curtains, 1 still in the paper wrapper bias ply tire that matches those on the car and an assortment of Morgan books and magazine articles.
