Built for France, ended up in Japan as a left hand drive. Imported to Canada in about 2003.
rare version of the Rover Mini Checkmate tribute edition with the 66 Rally final drive, 998 cc and single su HS4 carb.
Car was decaled on the side with Mini Cooper decals and the Checkmate edition on the right boot. Decals were put to original Checkmate decals on the side as well as the side silver pinstriping. Checkered roof was added, ignition wires changed to white as were the engine hoses. K&N cone filter , chrome rocker cover, chrome dipstick, chrome coil cover, chrome oil breather, chrome rad support bracket, chrome boot hinges, and chrome licence plate light shroud were added. Old rad changed out to aluminum, fan blade was changed from yellow to white. Stage one center exit exhaust system has been ordered and will be put on soon.
the original roof rack was powder coated bright white and the spars changed from teak to light English oak. Custom made placard showing that it a mini checkmate replaced the red and white Monte-Carlo one.
have template to build a custom dash and center console in the future.
