28 May 2021

Simonetta Iarlori, Chief People, Organisation & Transformation Officer of Leonardo, has a new role: Representing the metalworking/mechatronics industry, working with sector associations across European countries and with EU institutions, including through the Ceemet organisation, on the most important issues for companies within the scope of the Federation.

The appointment of Simonetta Iarlori as Federmeccanica Vice-President with responsibility for Institutional Relations in Europe was made yesterday, 27 May 2021, by Federico Visentin, President-designate of Federmeccanica, ahead of the election on 25 June at the General Assembly. Federmeccanica's General Council also approved seven Vice-Presidents with operational responsibilities for 2021-2023. A new team was created that will include the Presidents of the metalworking groups, who will be the protagonists in the creation of development paths to put the principles of renewal into practice in companies and to spread the values of our industry in civil society.

"I am delighted and honoured to be part of this wonderful team," commented Simonetta Iarlori. "This is the fourth consecutive year that I have been lucky enough to work with Federmeccanica in the role of Vice President. Now, with a three-year renewal of my position, and with this new delegation for Institutional Relations in Europe, I will be able to contribute further to promoting the competitiveness and sustainability of our companies, not only in Italy, but across the European Union. Representing Federmeccanica while working with institutions and sector associations in other European countries will enable me to make a further personal contribution to the most important issues for companies at an international level. I would like to thank Federico Visentin for the trust he has placed in me and for his profound commitment to innovation, with the aim of finding solutions to increasingly complex challenges for our people, our companies, and the country".

President Visentin was instrumental in setting up an Advisory Board composed of “Ambassadors" from the world of associations who, due to their personal and professional background or their current role, can make important contributions from a strategic point of view, and support the Federation's proposals, with one of their aims being to promote the Metalmechanical/Mechatronics Industry in Italy and to encourage innovation across the sector.

Since the 1970s, the Trade Union Federation of the Italian Metalmechanical Industry has been committed to protecting the interests of the manufacturing-mechanical industry and promoting the industrial sector in terms of public opinion, and within Italian and European institutions.
