Alpina is the famous tuning company for BMW, and has created some stunning versions of BMW`s. Notable mentions are the B12 (E31, E32.) B7 Turbo (E28) and the B6 3.5S (E30) Alpina is also known for making some incredible diesel powered machines as well. These make incredible torque, sounds raw, and gives their petrol counterparts a real challenge. One of these, is the great D10. With great performance, this B10 has an incredible power output, insane torque, and a top speed of 253 kph (For a Diesel!)

The suggested Alpina variant, is based on the brilliant E39 generation of the 5-Series, and is in my oppinion, the greatest 5-Series to ever roll out of Bavaria. Powered by the great M57D30 straight six cylinder singel turbo diesel (twin turbo in the B10) and with an incredibly smooth 5-Speed ZF automatic.

Some may wonder why I chose an Alpina powered by a diesel engine, and using an automatic transmission? But the fact is simple: BMW makes lovely diesel engines, ZF autos are brilliant and smooth, and the torque of the diesel is there when you need it the most.

As much as I love petrols, I utterly adore diesels as well, and especially BMW diesels. Hope you guys here on GTPlanet enjoy this suggestion!
