One of the first things I thought when we saw the museum of dog collars at Leeds Castle -- after Oh my god, this is so cool! -- was, I've got to have the book of this collection. Unfortunately there isn't a more up-to-date one; they've added considerably to the original donation, and printing quality has improved since this was published. This slim but good-sized book was published to mark the original donation, and it's great for what it has, and its age. But most of the photos here are in black-and-white, and while they're of good quality they can't match good full-color photos. So I'm really happy to have this, but if the Leeds Castle Foundation ever put out an updated book I'll buy it in a heartbeat!
62 examples catalogued here (plus an early 18th-century ivory carving of an obese whippet wearing a collar, a striking feature in the exhibit as well), ranging from the 16th century through the 19th.
