Live and enjoy the charm of Platja d´Aro

Platja d´Aro

Platja d'Aro is, together with Castell d'Aro and S'Agaró, part of the municipality of Castell-Platja d'Aro. Located in the heart of the Costa Brava, this magnificent town offers us an important cultural and architectural offer, with spaces such as the Roman Villa of Pla de Palol or the historic center of Castell d'Aro, declared a Cultural Asset of National Interest.

Throughout the year, the city of Platja d'Aro offers many gastronomic, commercial, sports and nightlife possibilities. The path of the coastal path offers fantastic views and has an extraordinary natural environment. The megalithic monument of Cavall Bernat is a true symbol of Platja d'Aro and probably the most photographed element.

The Best Beaches and Coves in Platja d'Aro

The coves and beaches of Platja d'Aro are similar to those of the Caribbean and some of the most beautiful on the Costa Brava.

Made up of crystal clear waters, fine golden sand, they offer beautiful landscapes and allow you to cool off and are ideal for practicing water sports in the hottest months of the year. During the rest of the time, the weather is pleasant and ideal for walks near the shore.

Great Beach

It is the main beach of Platja d'Aro, located between the mouth of the Ridaura River and the Cavall Bernal rock, it is 2 kilometers long and is made up of coarse sand. It has numerous services such as showers, toilets, lifeguards, a bar, hammock rental, and a water platform for children. Adapted for people with disabilities, it has complete services and is one of the busiest by families.

It has obtained the Q distinction for Tourist Quality, the Blue Flag and the Tourist Quality Commitment.

Cala Rovira

is 237 meters long and 43 meters wide and is more like a beach than a cove. With coarse sand, it has a historical attraction in its surroundings, the Roman villa of Pla de Palol, whose remains have been recovered and are open to the public for free visits.

Sa Cova

This small cove worthy of a postcard is located under a cliff, surrounded by vegetation and is made up of coarse sand.

To access Cala Sa Cova, you must take the coastal path from Sa Rovira beach. If you follow the path, you will find several open tunnels that lead to Cala del Pi.

Cala del Pi

Cala del Pi is located about 10 minutes from Platja Gran along the coastal path. In order to access it and enjoy some of the best landscapes of the Costa Brava, you must use the sections of the coastal path, in this way, you will find other coves such as Cala Rovira and Cala de Sa Cova. There is another access from the road, right next to the Hotel Cala del Pi.

Perfect for lovers of scuba diving and snorkelling, Cala del Pi is a deserted place in winter and very crowded in summer.

Platja de Belladona

A beautiful cove on the Costa Brava surrounded by vegetation, it is located a few kilometers north of the town of Platja d'Aro and the urbanization of Els Pins.

Made up of coarse sand and an amazing natural environment, it is about 150 meters long and 30 meters wide. It is protected from strong winds thanks to the cliffs that surround it. It is an ideal place to sunbathe and dive among the different reefs on the beach and its rocky bottoms.

With your partner, friends or family, it can be easily accessed by car or bus, but if you have a good adventurous spirit you can do it through the coastal path that comes from Sant Antoni de Calonge.

Camino de ronda

It is a historical road that was created with the basic functionalities of communicating the different towns, beaches and coves of the coast. The coastal path, also called "camí de ronda", follows the rugged coastline of the Costa Brava between the towns of Blanes and Portbou.

The coastal path joins Platja Gran in Platja d'Ar o with Platja Torre Valentina in Sant Antoni de Calonge. Its occupancy level is high, since it is very close to the Sant Jorge hotel and nearby exclusive residential areas. It has minimal services, such as a beach bar that is open in the summer months, but it guarantees incredible turquoise waters and landscapes with the most picturesque beaches on the Costa Brava.

Mediterranean flavors at the table

Mediterranean cuisine offers food focused on typical recipes from countries such as Spain, Portugal, France, Italy, Greece and Malta. They are fresh, local and seasonal products, as well as traditional ways of cooking, inherited from generation to generation and other cultural factors such as the habit of shared meals with family or friends, traditions and celebrations.

In 2013 Mediterranean cuisine was named Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity, highlighting seafood, vegetables and legumes, fruit, meat, pasta, rice and nuts, in addition to wine consumption.

Throughout the Costa Brava and in Platja d'Aro there is a great and wide gastronomic offer, which we want to highlight today in our newsletter.

The Feliu restaurant is the oldest and most emblematic of Platja d'Aro. Founded by Joan Feliu , a renowned chef of the time, in 1969 together with his wife Guadalupe, continuing the family tradition. Specialized in paella, fresh fish from the Costa Brava and grilled meat.

Enjoy is a restaurant that offers unforgettable experiences with local and km.0 products and seasonal ingredients. An oasis of fun suitable for all palates.

La Calma restaurant located in front of the sea offers an extensive Mediterranean menu with km0 products. Rice and fideuás, grilled fish and meat, tapas to share are some of the dishes offered by this Chill out restaurant in Platja d´Aro.
