Ruth Morehead Poole, 93, of Fitzgerald, Georgia, died Friday, July 12, 2019, at her daughter’s residence in Fitzgerald.
Graveside services will be held 2 PM, Sunday, July 14, 2019, at Evergreen Cemetery in Fitzgerald, with Elder Edward McIntyre officiating. The family will receive friends from 1-2 at the funeral home.
Mrs. Poole was born October 20, 1925, in Fitzgerald, Georgia, to the late Coatus Lee & Lois Hogan Morehead. She was a graduate of Mystic High School and Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College. Mrs. Poole worked at many restaurants for over 60 years including McCall’s Café, Jimbo’s, Tastee Freeze, Colony House, Shoney’s, Taco Bell, and Wendy’s. She always served others with a smile on her face. She was a Pink Lady with the Dorminy Medical Center Auxiliary for over 20 years. Mrs. Poole enjoyed working in her yard.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Peggy L. & David W. Wise of Fitzgerald; a grandson, James Edward Matthews of Fitzgerald; siblings: Johnny C. & Ann Morehead of Irwinville, C.L. Morehead, Jr. of Athens, Mary L. & Lewis Garrett of Hopewell, Virginia, and Ruby Doise of South Carolina. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Buck Poole and a son, Tommy Lee Livingston.
