LINCOLN, Ill. (WMBD) — The National Weather Service in Lincoln is warning of an increased risk of fire in Central Illinois on Monday.

A Red Flag warning is currently affecting much of Central Illinois, including Peoria, Tazewell, McLean, Woodford and Fulton Counties from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

According to the NWS, the warning is caused by a combination of warm temperatures, low humidities and strong winds, which can cause an increased risk of a fire starting and spreading out of control.

Everyone is encouraged to take steps to prevent fires from starting, including not starting fires outdoors while the warning is in effect.
