Infiniti has been without a flagship sedan since the Q70 was axed in 2019.

Its death marked the end of an era as the brand’s journey began with the unveiling of the Q45 in 1989. That brings us to this excellent example from 2000, which has only been driven 17,143 miles (27,589 km) in the past 21 years.

Currently listed on Bring A Trailer, the flagship sedan is in remarkable condition as it features a black obsidian paint job that looks virtually brand new. It’s joined by HID headlights, chrome trim, and 16-inch alloy wheels that seem a little bland. Rounding out the highlights are a sunroof, a “laser-etched DURASTEEL body,” and an automatic power-deployable antenna that screamed luxury back in the day.

Speaking of luxury, the Q45 checks all the boxes as drivers will find heated leather front seats with eight-way power adjustment. They’re joined by an analog clock and copious amounts of woodgrain trim.

Other notable highlights include an automatic climate control system, a power rear sunshade, and an eight-speaker Bose audio system with a cassette and CD player. They’re joined by cruise control, HomeLink, and a Motorola flip phone. While this particular model is relatively low tech, the 2000 Q45 Anniversary Edition was offered with an optional navigation system.

Under the hood, there’s a 4.1-liter V8 engine that develops 266 hp (198 kW / 270 PS) and 278 lb-ft (376 Nm) of torque. It’s connected to a four-speed automatic transmission, which sends power to the rear wheels.

The car originally stickered for $49,840 (£36,910 / €44,018) and the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics’ inflation calculator reveals that’s approximately $82,067 (£60,776 / €72,475) in today’s money. That’s some serious cash and bidding is already up to $7,000 (£5,184 / €6,181) with six days left on the auction.
