  • Highs Stylish inside and out, thoughtfully placed storage cubbies, nine-speed automatic shuffles gears effortlessly.
  • Lows Upsized 20-inch wheels compromise ride comfort, thrashy-sounding V-6 engine, a wired connection is required for Android Auto.
  • Verdict Infiniti's mid-size SUV has the looks to lure buyers away from BMW and Mercedes-Benz, but the QX60 doesn't offer a similar swagger.

Overview

Challenging the European brands in the mid-size luxury SUV category requires a stylish, premium entrant but the 2024 Infiniti QX60 isn't quite able to offer its rivals elbows-out competition. It rolls with an attractive look, with a curvy exterior design that catches the eye. But under its skin lies mainstream bones borrowed from the Nissan Pathfinder, and that means the QX60 can't deliver road manners that match those of the BMW X5 or Mercedes-Benz GLE-class. A 295-hp V-6 engine drives the front wheels through a nine-speed automatic; all-wheel drive is optional. Ride comfort is good—unless you order the attractive 20-inch wheels—and the QX60's cabin is spacious enough for family duty, not to mention quiet and nicely appointed. While the Infiniti would be a more formidable contender if it had more on-road charisma, it at least ticks the box for value, starting some $10,000 less than some other luxury three-row crossovers. But at the end of the day, it's hard not to see it for what it is: A gussied-up Nissan.

What's New for 2024?

The QX60, which was redesigned for the 2022 model year, carries over to 2024 without any significant changes.

Pricing and Which One to Buy

The price of the 2024 Infiniti QX60 starts at $51,000 and goes up to $64,550 depending on the trim and options.

The Sensory trim is the model we'd suggest. It comes standard with premium features such as massaging front seats, heated second-row seats, an air purifier, wireless smartphone charging, a motion-activated power liftgate, and a 17-speaker Bose stereo system. Front-wheel drive is standard and will likely be fine for most buyers, but all-wheel drive is a $2000 option.

    Engine, Transmission, and Performance

The QX60 is powered by a 295-hp V-6 engine and comes with a nine-speed automatic. All-wheel drive is optional, but on the QX60, front-wheel drive is standard. The QX60 offers up to 6,000 pounds of towing capacity, an increase of 1000 pounds over the last-generation model. During our initial test drive of the 2022 QX60, we appreciated the nine-speed automatic's smooth shifts and the chassis' well-controlled body motions when cornering. The ride is stiffer than we expected for what otherwise is a comfy cruiser, especially on the optional 20-inch wheels. At our test track, the QX60 scampered to 60 mph in a respectable 6.2 seconds and proved to be significantly quieter than its country cousin, the Nissan Pathfinder. The V-6 engine, however, could use some refinement. In comparison to smooth-running mills from luxury brands such as BMW and Mercedes-Benz, the Infiniti's 3.5-liter sounds gritty, especially under heavy throttle.

      Fuel Economy and Real-World MPG

The EPA has given the QX60 fuel economy ratings of 21 mpg city and 26 mpg highway for front-wheel-drive models; all-wheel drive drops those numbers by 1 mpg each. On our 75-mph highway fuel-economy test route, we recorded 24 mpg in an all-wheel drive QX60 Autograph. For more information about the QX60's fuel economy, visit the EPA's website.

      Interior, Comfort, and Cargo

Every QX60 offers a three-row interior layout, which means space for up to seven passengers; the top-spec Autograph model comes with second-row captain's chairs, reducing passenger capacity to six. The luxed-up cabin is convincing, with posh materials used throughout and extra sound-deadening efforts to provide more solace from the outside world. Both front seats offer eight-way power adjustments as well as heat, but Infiniti also offers niceties such as ventilated front seats, a massage feature, and heated rear seats as options. Dual-zone automatic climate control is standard as well, and higher trim levels can be ordered with a three-zone system that also includes an air purifier.

        Infotainment and Connectivity

A 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system is standard on the QX60, and it features Android Auto and wireless Apple CarPlay. A secondary 12.3-inch digital gauge display is optional, as is a 10.8-inch head-up display. All QX60s also come with onboard Wi-Fi. Buyers can also order a 17-speaker Bose premium stereo system.

          StarStarStarStarStar
          View Crash Test Results

A host of driver-assistance features are standard, with more high-tech items being offered as options, including an adaptive cruise control system that utilizes data from the QX60's onboard navigation system to slow the vehicle in anticipation of upcoming curves in the road. For more information about the QX60's crash test results, visit the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) websites. Key safety features include:

          • Standard forward collision warning with automated emergency braking
          • Standard lane-departure warning with lane-keeping assist
          • Available adaptive cruise control

          Warranty and Maintenance Coverage

All Infiniti models offer longer powertrain coverage than most rivals at six years or 70,000 miles, and the brand offers complimentary scheduled maintenance like BMW does for the X5 and Volvo for the XC90.

          • Limited warranty covers 4 years or 60,000 miles
          • Powertrain warranty covers 6 years or 70,000 miles
          • Complimentary maintenance is covered for 3 years or 30,000 miles.
