At the upcoming Frankfurt Auto Show (September 13-23), F1 legend Michael Schumacher will introduce the long-awaited Ferrari F430 Scuderia, a car that should eventually bear the name of Challenge Stradale.

Derived from the F430 Spider and Coupe -- two models that account for the majority of Ferrari's sales -- this new 2-seat berlinetta benefits from a few notable changes in order to keep pace with its two latest rivals: the 530-hp Porsche 911 GT2 (1,440 kg) and the equally powerful Lamborghini Gallardo Superleggera (1,330 kg). Not to be denied, the F430 Scuderia is 100-kg lighter than the previous model, which is quite an accomplishment.

What's more, the magnificent 4.3L V8 engine now produces 510 horsepower at 8,500 rpm (a 30-hp gain). Weighing only 1,250 kilos, the gorgeous new Italian boasts a phenomenal ratio of 2.45 kilos per horsepower, better than the German queen (911 GT2: 2.72 kg/hp) and the domestic cousin (Gallardo Superleggera: 2.51 kg/hp).

The F430 Scuderia is equipped with a Superfast transmission controlled by a new F1-based software that allows 60-millisecond shifts. Also included are the E-Diff electronic differential as well as the F1-Trac stability and traction control system. These two electronic nannies are designed to help the lucky owners perform all the aggressive and "extreme" maneuvers they dream of.

Top speed is said to exceed 320 kph while 0-100 kph accelerations are achieved in about 3.5 seconds.
