Stegastein Viewpoint

The wooden brigde is a spectacular viewpoint 650 meters above sea level provides a panorama view over Aurland and the fjord.

The Stegastein Viewpoint is a popular tourist attraction in Aurland. It is a 15-20-minute drive (one way) starting from our cabins but depending on the traffic it may take longer.

The lookout is a 30-meter-long wooden platform located 650 meters above sea level which gives a spectacular view of the Aurlandsfjord. Keep in mind that the road up to Stegastein is a one-lane street meant for driving in both directions.

If you are visiting during the high season, we recommend exploring Stegastein either early in the morning or late afternoon to avoid the worst traffic.

The road to Stegastein is a part of the National Tourist Road known as “The Snow Road” stretching from Aurland to the neighboring town Lærdal, so you may continue your drive for more scenic views.
