Slender and sleeker without sacrificing size, the 2023 Chevrolet Malibu is bigger by 4 inches (wheelbase) while dropping weight (about 300 pounds lighter) than its predecessor.

The grille comes in two sections, separated by the brand's popular Bow Tie logo. Slimmer up top than at the bottom, the front fascia looks like a tamer version of the one found on the Camaro. On either side are thin, wraparound HID projector headlamps enhanced with tunnel detection, auto leveling, IntelliBeam auto on/off high beam, and the follow-me-home feature.

The front fenders give off a muscular shape leading up to the A-pillar, which seems to give this unassuming sedan more muscle than it should have as an executive sedan.

Power and Performance of the 2023 Chevrolet Malibu

The 2023 Chevrolet Malibu has two engine options, a 2.0-liter turbocharged gasoline engine that makes 250 horsepower and 260 pound-feet of torque and a 1.5-liter turbocharged inline-four with 163 horsepower and 184 pound-feet of torque.

Power goes to the front wheels via a continuously variable transmission (1.5-liter turbo) or a nine-speed automatic transmission (2.0-liter turbo).

Both engines are ultra-quiet due to excellent cabin insulation from NVH (noise, vibration, harshness). Handling is magnificent, so much better than the previous generation. Steering is precise and feels light, betraying its curb weight of 1.5 tons.

Acceleration is brisker than expected for a 2.0-liter engine, which speaks volumes about how good this engine is. It can comfortably overtake while providing the "fun" and "exciting" aspect of driving without breaching 2,000 RPM.
