What could be better than a big boozie group ride all cloaked in tweed? Leave it to the Brits to have all the fun. This past Saturday a group of fixed gear riders rode from H Huntsman & Sons at 11 Savile Row to the Bethnal Green Working Men’s Club. Some of action below. (Thanks to Lark About & H.     Makes you proud to be British….sort of. I can’t wholeheartedly recommend fixed gear bicycles, at least not if you live anywhere in the vicinity of a hill or god forbid, hills. Yes, I am aware that Desgrange thought gearing on bicycles suitable only for old women and invalids but Ol’ Henry never actually rode a bike much. He spent most of his time leaning out the side of his motor car shouting at the Bros. Pelissiers et al to get a move on and stop shilly shallying. ” Be a man! suffer!” He was fond of saying and by gad that’s exactly what you will do if you take to riding fixed over anything other than the shortest, slightest incline. Those big ratios will ruin your knees.

    Or, if you’re on the other side of the Atlantic, Jack Daniels. Mainly because it seems to be the closest thing to good bourbon they serve. I say this based on an extremely limited and unscientific sampling.

    Bourbon and bicycles, a fine combo. Add to that tweed, because it looks pretty sharp.

    How cool is this, and how did I miss it! Tweed on bikes is a great mix and one that really should become law.

    Sadly enough, I know of no such event over here in Germany . Looking always for a nice opportunity to wear my good Norfolk jacket .
