What Google Offices look like

what google offices look like

If you earlier asked a child what it wanted to be, it most likely answered: “I want to become a superhero!“ When you ask kids today, many will say, “I want to work for Google”. Well, for many people Google employees are superheroes as their work significantly contributes to the progress of our society and the economy.

Main reason for many kids and adults dreaming of becoming an employee at Google is that among the digital giants, Google has been ranked the best large employer in 2019 by Forbes (total rank 6). The innovative offices include not only everything motivated employees need but also what they dream of, strengthen the frequent wish to work there.

Disneyland for ambitious students

Within the graduate students’ New York City academic excursion in May, Google was the first company to have a meeting with. Having the chance to visit Google’s NYC office felt like Disneyland for ambitious students. Every single one of us was very excited and curious about the inside, the people working there and the overall atmosphere.

Entering the office which is located in Chelsea already was an experience in itself. With a size of nearly 2.9 million square feet of office space, the building occupies one whole block and hence has multiple entrances. The main entrance is clean, very modern and equipped with digital walls, which allow the visitors to get an idea of the inside’s playfulness that perfectly complements the contemporary design. When it comes to design, the office is designed to ensure the absolute concentration of the employees but also to warrant the spread of creative ideas. The meeting rooms are equipped with the latest technology, while other seating corners have special gaming machines with whiteboards next to them which permit development of new ideas while taking a break. The corporate colors are also represented in a variety of ways in the wall decoration. One wall for example displays the internet penetration rate of all kinds of different countries. To this end, acrylic glass bars in different Google colors and lengths showed the different internet penetration rates: the longer the glass bar, the higher the rate.

The key to success

Moreover, the office represents Google’s state-of-the-art implementation of CSR in regards to their employees. Be it the various cafeterias offering healthy soul-food, the gym, sleeping and mediation rooms – Google wants to contribute to a good work-life-balance by actively supporting their employees’ physical but also mental health and fitness.

We all know the quote: a company is only as good as its people. Google shows clearly that by offering a creative and innovative environment the engagement and investments towards the employees is the key to success. It allows people to become the best version of themselves, not only business-wise but also personally. It allows employees to become their own superheroes. That is the reason why Google is one of the most successful companies of the world.
