Firefighter injured while battling Columbus house fire

The fire started around 7:50 p.m. at a home located in the 1600 block of Genessee Avenue.

COLUMBUS, Ohio — A firefighter with the Columbus Division of Fire was injured while battling a house fire in the North Linden neighborhood Monday night.

The fire started around 7:50 p.m. at a home located in the 1600 block of Genessee Avenue.

Columbus Battalion Chief Jeff Geitter said the fire was spreading to a second home. A firefighter went to the roof of the second house to help cut a hole to help ventilation when he slipped and fell two stories to the ground.

The firefighter was taken to Grant Medical Center and their condition was described as stable.

No other injuries were reported.
