10 HUGE Movie Roles Actors Were Too Scared To Take On

1. Christian Grey (Fifty Shades Of Grey) - Charlie Hunnam

The starring role in Fifty Shades of Grey may have been hard to cast, but the central love interest was no walk in the park for agents and producers either, as evidenced by Sons of Anarchy star Charlie Hunnam’s choice to abandon the project.

Unlike Lucy Hale and Harry Potter starlet Emma Watson, both of whom denied their involvement early on in the pre-production process, Hunnam was actually cast as the troubled eponymous figure.

However, the intense demands of his schedule playing Jax Teller on Sons of Anarchy took its toll and Hunnam eventually had to step down, stating that he couldn’t see himself switching between characters as the conflicting shoots would have demanded.

We here at WhatCulture are sure that was the only consideration which lead to him leaving, and it definitely had nothing to do with the myriad production problems which plagued the project, the countless rewrites of scripts, and the attention his casting had received among rabid fans.
