Johnny Depp’s former longtime partner, French actress and singer Vanessa Paradis, has jumped to the star’s defense, insisting he could never hit a woman, a new report says.
“Johnny Depp is the father of my two children, he is a sensitive, loving and loved person, and I believe with all my heart that these recent allegations being made are outrageous,” Paradis wrote in a handwritten letter in Los Angeles and dated Friday, according to TMZ, which revealed the note Sunday.
“In all the years I have known Johnny, he has never been physically abusive with me and this looks nothing like the man I lived with for 14 wonderful years,” she added, according to the gossip Web site.
Depp and Paradis were together from 1999 to 2012. They have two kids: Lily-Rose, 17, and 14-year-old John Christopher Depp III.
The letter comes amid claims from Depp’s actress wife, Amber Heard, who claimed in court papers last week that he roughed her up during their 15-month marriage. A Los Angeles judge granted her a temporary restraining order against him Friday.
Heard was in court and sported a bruise on her face, a mark she said she sustained when Depp threw a phone at her.
Depp and Paradis’s daughter, Lily-Rose, also came to her dad’s defense.
She posted an adorable Instagram picture of herself Sunday as an infant, with dad holding her with both hands, trying to walk.
“My dad is the sweetest most loving person I know, he’s been nothing but a wonderful father to my little brother and I, and everyone who knows him would say the same,” Lily-Rose, 17, captioned the photo.
