Since 26 August 2008, Microsoft has been releasing their new version of Windows Genuine Advantage (WGA) Notification. Looks like they have found a new way to annoy non-genuine users of Windows XP.

So what happen if u accidentally downloaded & installed this new WGA?

1. ur desktop changed to a plain black background from whatever was there previously. even if u change back ur wallpaper, it will be black again in 60 minutes.

2. there’s a translucent “persistent desktop notification” just over the system tray telling that u (dgn sengaja) are using a pirated copy of Windows, hehe.

3. other annoyances are still the same as previous version of WGA.

but not to worry.. why?

For WGA Version 1.8.0031.0 (26th August 2008)

1. Download the patch here or here.
2. Extract to a folder.
3. Run the installer.bat file.
