Ukraine launches manufacturing of ZU-23 anti-aircraft cannon

Ukraine launches manufacturing of ZU-23 23mm dual anti-aircraft cannon (2А13) which is now undergoing trials at Rivne exercise range, reports Ukrainian Military Portal with reference to the information from the General HQ of Ukrainian Armed Forces.

From the Ukrainian Military Portal’s own source it is known that the manufacturer of the new ZU-23 variant is Ukrainska Bronetekhnika company, a subsidiary of which – Rubin-2017 has previously announced manufacturing of Ukrainian made SPG-9 73mm rocket launcher – the Lancet.

Following the results of the trials the new item will be sent for field testing with the troops and will be adopted by Ukrainian army.

The ZU-23 23mm dual anti-aircraft cannon is designated to engage enemy aircraft, personnel, soft vehicles and assets in any environment and weather conditions.

Ukrainian company SE DB Artillery Armament has previously started production of 2А14 barrels for ZU-23, its KBA-40 barrel shows better performance than its Soviet prototype and is a replacement of Soviet 2A14 barrels for ZU-23. The new barrel was developed at company’s own cost
