The Aircraft

The MiG-29 was developed by the Soviet Union in the 1970s. This 4th Gen supersonic jet fighter entered Soviet service in 1983 with its first western reveal in 1986. It remains active to this day. The aircraft are also included among the inventory of 24 other countries. The NATO codename is “Fulcrum”, with the MiG-29 (9-13) aircraft assigned the designation of “Fulcrum C”. The Fulcrum was operated to oppose the F-16/F-18 of the USAF.

About the Model

This 1/72 scale die-cast metal model from HobbyMaster depicts the MiG-29A Fulcrum (6829) “Slovak Tiger”. The Slovak Air Force’s MiG-29A was produced in the last quarter of 1994 and was sent to the 1st Squadron at Silac in January of 1995 with the designation of 6829. The aircraft was given a unique tiger scheme for its role as the 2002 air show demonstrator. The aircraft appeared on June 8th and 9th of 2002, during the Slovak 5th International Air Display, but on November 6, 2002, the aircraft was sadly in a mid-air collision with another MiG-29 (6930) which totaled both aircraft and cost one pilot their life.
