You See Me Crying Lyrics

[Instrumental Intro 00:00-00:28]

[Verse 1]
You see me crying
Don't let it get'cha down
You see me crying
I'm back to the lost and found

[Chorus]
Honey, what'cha done to your head
Honey, was the words I said
Honey, what'cha done to your head
Honey, was the words I said

[Verse 2]
You see me crying
Say you're a ladies man
You see me crying
So hard to understand

[Chorus]
Honey, what'cha done to your head
Honey, was the words I said
Honey, what'cha done to your head
Honey, was the words I said
[Bridge]
You see me crying
Please say you'll stick around
And I got to be your lover
Honey, let me take you to town
And I'll show you everything I know
And I'm never ever let you down
'Cause my love is like a merry-go-round

[Instrumental Break 02:52-03:47]
[Guitar Solo]

[Chorus]
Honey, what'cha done to your head
Honey, was the words I said
Honey, what'cha done to your head
Honey, was the words I said

[Instrumental Outro]

About

Genius Annotation

By far Aerosmith’s most complex song up to this point in their careers, “You See Me Crying” ended up frustrating several members of Aerosmith during the recording process due to how long it took to finish it. Producer Jack Douglas brought in an orchestra directed by Mike Mainieri which led to the length of time it took to record it. Even so, the label was so impressed that they released the song as the album’s third and final single with “Toys In The Attic” as the B-Side. Steven Tyler liked it, too, even though he later forgot that he had written it. During the recording of Done with Mirrors in 1984, Steven (who was plagued with memory issues due to his heavy drug use) heard it on the radio and told Joe Perry that Aerosmith should do a cover. Joe Perry simply replied “It’s us, Fuckhead.”

It’s interesting to note that Perry actually plays rhythm guitar on this song, swapping places with Brad Whitford who played lead.
