Lightbulb Special Edition Alpina B3 Will Be One Of The Rarest BMWs Ever Built

This is a sweet vehicle and super exclusive. Those Torque numbers are very impressive.

https://carbuzz.com/news/special-edi...mws-ever-built

Each one will be finished in the signature Alpina Green II Metallic.
Based on the latest BMW 3 Series Sedan, the Alpina B3 gets the same S58 twin-turbo inline-six found in the M3, but it's tuned to produce 495 horsepower and 538 lb-ft of torque. For reference, the M3 Competition delivers 503 hp but only 479 lb-ft.

There is a brutish elegance to it that Alpina has consistently been able to accomplish. Very nice.

Can you really?!?! Are 100% certain of that?? If I was in the market to spend Alpina 3 Series money this car might have the potential to get me to buy an LCI G20. The key word there is “might”.

I’ve seen several Alpina X7’s, 5 series and 7 series here in California.

I’m not up on Alpina 5ers and X7s U.S. availability, but the Alpina 7 Series has definitely been available in the U.S. I know for a fact the F01/02 Alpina was available and so was the E65/66. I actually got to drive an E65 Alpina back when BMW was doing the Susan Komen For the Cure drives.

Unfortunately the B3 is not available in the US as far as I know. This article is from last year but I haven't seen any updates since, and in addition, the Alpina models that I have seen here (and that the other person referenced) are available to configure on the BMW USA website.

The ALPINA line up is not thoroughly available in the U.S./Canadian market - only the B7, XB7, B8 and the B6 when it was available.

If the B3/B4 ever came to the North American market, I would be the first person to run to my dealer to put down a deposit.

For me- this is the true design esthetic I wanted on the m3. I’d buy this before the new M3 in a heartbeat if they made a bigger production.

You can order them here in Australia without the graphics and with the 'standard' Alpina wheels which are much less busy and in my opinion greatly preferable; I'm sure you can do the same elsewhere.

Interestingly, even the latest B3 models retain the pre-LCI transmission shifter rather than the switch, which I think is a plus.

Regrettably, we don't have an Alpina dealer here in Western Australia. I'm actually interested in the B3 Touring and when I'm in Brisbane and Sydney in a couple of months I'm going to arrange a test drive. I like the concept of a more civilized (for everyday use) version of the M3, especially as the M340i Touring is not imported by BMW Australia, only the 330i model. I'd be committing to keep it for a long time though as the depreciation will be savage ...
