About This File
I present you the Lockheed F-117 Nighthawk created by @active, now uploaded to work on XPlane11 (Originally made for XP9).
This time, @active gave me permission to repost his work on the forum:
Here's his presentation:
made by Active _ january 2014
This is a project started back in 2011 and given up in 2012. I finally decided to finish it as it was lacking the 3D cockpit. I just don't like unfinished projects. So here it is. This plane is made for X-Plane 9.70. No version 10.xx planned. However, I briefly tested it and it should work ok.
It comes with a few liveries which are described into the manual. A brief description of the cockpit panel is included too.
Some considerations to be aware of:
- aircraft has no speed brakes. The speedbrake handle opens/closes the canopy.
- aircraft has no flaps. The flaps handles opens/close the bomb bay doors. NO BUTTON IN THE COCKPIT: USE THE KEYBOARD
- This aircraft needs to be trimmed down just after take off, and trimmed up before landing. It has no TRIM BUTTONS. Assign trim buttons to your joystick or keyboard.

For those who still cannot figure out how to fly this plane, here's a tip (found in the Comment section) :
The Lockheed F-117 Nighthawk is an American single-seat, twin engine stealth attack aircraft that was developed by Lockheed's secretive Skunk Works division and operated by the United States Air Force (USAF). The F-117 was based on the Have Blue technology demonstrator.
The Nighthawk was the first operational aircraft to be designed around stealth technology. Its maiden flight took place in 1981 at Groom Lake, Nevada, and the aircraft achieved initial operating capability status in 1983. The Nighthawk was shrouded in secrecy until it was revealed to the public in 1988. Of the 64 F-117s built, 59 were production versions, with the other five being prototypes.
The F-117 was widely publicized for its role in the Persian Gulf War of 1991. Although it was commonly referred to as the "Stealth Fighter", it was strictly a ground-attack aircraft. F-117s took part in the conflict in Yugoslavia, where one was shot down by a surface-to-air missile (SAM) in 1999; it was the only Nighthawk to be lost in combat. The U.S. Air Force retired the F-117 in April 2008, primarily due to the fielding of the F-22 Raptor. Despite the type's retirement, a portion of the fleet has been kept in airworthy condition, and Nighthawks have been observed flying in 2020.
