Kia Retona (1996-2000)
Launched in 1998, it is essentially a civilian model version of the K-131 military vehicle. It served as the successor to the Rocsta and it runs on the same body-on-frame structure as the first-generation Kia Sportage. It was powered by a choice of either a 2.0L petrol and 2.0L diesel engine mated to either a 4-speed AT or a 5-speed manual. The name “Retona” is a portmanteau for “Return To Nature”.
Kia Retona Cruiser (2000-2003)
Launched in 2000, it is essentially a facelifted version of the Retona. The petrol variant was removed, leaving only the 2.0L diesel engine mated to either a 4-speed AT or a 5-speed MT. Production ended in 2003.
