EW's editorial guidelines Published on September 11, 2016 07:11PM EDT Photo: Vincent Sandoval/Getty Images Toni Basil is the singer behind the unbelievably catchy “Mickey” from the 1980s, and she’s still got the moves at the age of 72: Video of one of Basil’s hip-hop routines was posted to the web back in July and has since gone viral for her electric moves. Dancer and art director Babson Baba Sy posted a clip from a dance workshop, where he asked Basil to come up and perform. “I’ve always been a dancer, and I will always be a dancer,” Basil told BuzzFeed. “Dance has been my lover, my doctor. I know I have my health because of this.” Watch her dance in the video below. https://www.facebook.com/ Basil’s career stalled after her post-“Mickey” songs didn’t catch on, but she later found success as a choreographer working with David Bowie, Tina Turner, and Bette Midler. Tom Hanks even recruited her to oversee the dance sequences in his film That Thing You Do! “People think, ‘Well, she’s not around because she’s not in front of the camera,”’ she told EW way back in 1996, before humorously turning and asking the reporter, ”You’re not going to be that naive, are you?”
