One-Owner 2001 Chrysler Prowler

This 2001 Chrysler Prowler was sold during the year following the discontinuation of the Plymouth brand and is reportedly one of 1,014 examples finished in Prowler Orange Pearl Coat during a six-year production run. The car was purchased new by the seller 2001 from Bob Howard’s Crown Auto World in Tulsa, Oklahoma and shows 31k miles. Power comes from a 3.5-liter 24-valve V6 paired with a rear-mounted four-speed Autostick transaxle, while modifications include a lower final drive ratio, a K&N intake, and a custom exhaust system. This Prowler is offered with a Carfax report, shop manuals, a window sticker, service records, and a clean Texas title in the seller’s name.

Based on a design penned by Chip Foose while studying at Art Center College of Design, the retro-styled, open-wheeled Prowler was built on a bonded aluminum chassis with a drivetrain sourced from the contemporary Chrysler LH sedan. Exterior features include front cycle fenders and a rear-hinged trunk housing the convertible top when stowed. The seller notes scrapes underneath the front the nose on this example, and a February 2003 damage entry on the Carfax report reportedly resulted from the deck lid being repainted due to a scratch.

Chrome 17″ front and 20″ rear wheels wear stock Goodyear Eagle GS-D tires. The Prowler came equipped with independent front and rear suspension as well as four-wheel disc brakes.

The interior is trimmed in Agate leather and features cruise control, air conditioning, and a factory stereo with a cassette deck and a CD changer as well as power locks and windows. The driver-side window regular has been replaced and the sun visors removed, though the latter will accompany the car separately.

The body-colored instrument panel holds white-faced analog gauges with a digital odometer showing approximately 31k miles. An AutoMeter tachometer is mounted on the steering column. A “low tire pressure” light is illuminated on the dashboard, though the seller notes correct tire pressures all around.

The aluminum-block 3.5-liter V6 was rated at 253 horsepower with 255 lb-ft of torque when new and has been modified with a K&N air filter. The engine oil was changed in May 2019 according to the seller.

Power is routed to the rear wheels via a torque tube and a rear-mounted four-speed Autostick automatic transaxle, and the final drive ratio has reportedly been lowered from stock. The car features a custom cat-back exhaust system with chrome tips.

A matching remote-controlled Prowler toy will be included in the sale as well as a set of factory floor mats, service manuals, Maisto toy cars, parade flags with mounting brackets, an original window sticker, and shop manuals.

The September 2019 Carfax report shows history with one owner in Texas as well as the aforementioned damage entry in February 2003. A video with driving and exterior clips can be seen below.
