This 1997 Mitsubishi Delica Space Gear is a Japanese-market van that was imported from Canada to the US by the seller in July 2022. The van has been refinished in a satin black rubberized coating over gray cloth upholstery, and power is provided by an intercooled 2.8-liter turbodiesel inline-four linked with a four-speed automatic transmission and a dual-range transfer case. Additional equipment includes a locking center differential, a Crystal Lite roof, a rear spoiler, a tailgate ladder, fog lights, side steps, a receiver hitch, multi-piece 15″ wheels, automatic climate control, swiveling second row seats, and a Sony multimedia stereo. The glow plugs were replaced in May 2022, while work performed in November 2021 included servicing the front brakes and replacing the radiator, water pump, injection pump front seal, upper ball joints, trailing arm bushings, tires, and the 4WD solenoid pack. This Delica is now offered at no reserve with Smart Delica seat covers, service records beginning in 2021, and a clean Utah title in the seller’s name.
Finished from the factory in Summit White (W09), the exterior has been repainted with a satin black rubberized exterior coating. Features include a Crystal Lite roof, a hood scoop, a rear spoiler, fog lights, side steps, a rear ladder, a back-up mirror, a rear wiper, pop-out side windows, door window visors, and a receiver hitch. The daytime running light module was replaced in November 2021. An area of peeling finish on the right mirror bracket is shown in the gallery below.
Multi-piece 15″ wheels are wrapped in 30×9.5″ General Grabber A/TX tires. The front brake pads, rotors, and calipers were replaced in November 2021 along with the tires, upper ball joints, trailing arm bushings, rear springs, and an outer tie rod end.
The right-hand-drive cabin features front bucket seats upholstered in patterned gray cloth, which extends to the interior panels. Amenities include automatic climate control, a Sony multimedia touch-screen stereo, and an under-dash storage console.
The four-spoke steering wheel frames a 180-km/h speedometer and tachometer along with auxiliary gauges for fuel level and coolant temperature. An auxiliary gauge pod mounted atop the dash includes an inclinometer and battery voltage gauge. The digital odometer indicates 126k kilometers (~79k miles), approximately 4k of which were added by the seller.
The rear passenger compartment is equipped with swiveling second-row seats, along with side-folding rear seats, power-operated sun shades, and rear climate controls.
The intercooled turbodiesel 2.8-liter 4M40 inline-four was factory rated at 123 horsepower and 217 lb-ft of torque. The glow plugs were replaced in May 2022 and work performed in November 2021 included disconnecting the EGR valve and replacing the following components:
- Water pump
- Radiator and hoses
- Thermostat
- Oil pressure sender
- Injection pump front seal and O-rings
- Vacuum pump O-rings
- Alternator
- Diesel filter
Power is sent to the rear or all four wheels through a four-speed automatic transmission, a dual-range transfer case and a locking center differential. A replacement 4WD solenoid pack was installed in November 2021. Additional underside photos are available in the gallery below.
