This 1991 Mitsubishi Galant VR-4 is one of approximately 3,000 made for the US market in 1991 and 1992, and it is powered by a modified 2.0-liter 4G63 inline-four paired with a Shepherd Transmission Stage 3 five-speed manual gearbox and full-time all-wheel drive. The car previously resided in California and came to Wisconsin around 2008. The seller acquired it in 2011 with modified engine internals and the transmission removed from the car. The seller subsequently installed the transmission with an ACT 2100 clutch and further modified the vehicle with a larger turbocharger, Walbro injectors, Injen intake, DSM Link v3 control unit, a custom tune, and more detailed on an accompanying build sheet. This Galant VR-4 is now offered with invoices from the current owner, removed factory components, a clean Carfax report, and a clean Wisconsin title.

The exterior is finished in Nile Black (X68), one of three colors available on US-market Galant VR-4s for 1991. The seller had the hood repainted due to stone chips, and a dent in the passenger fender was repaired at the same time. A chip in the windshield and spots in the finish on the rear bumper also are noted. The power antenna is said to be inoperative. The Carfax report is free of accidents and damage.

15″ alloy wheels feature black-painted centers and wear Falken tires. The VR-4 model was equipped with four-wheel steering, and anti-lock brakes along with Dynamic ECS, a semi-active suspension system.

The cabin features black leather seats with matching carpets and plastics, a stock steering wheel and shift knob, and Galant VR-4–branded floor mats. An aftermarket single-DIN stereo and filler panel with boost gauge are mounted in place of the factory double-DIN stereo. A placard on the dash indicates that this car is number 999 of 2,000 built for the US market in 1991, and a corresponding key tag is shown up close in the photo gallery below.

Instrumentation includes a tachometer with a 7k-rpm redline and a 150-mph speedometer. Approximately 20k miles are shown on the mechanical odometer, which the seller reports is the mileage since the engine was modified. 6k miles have been added under current ownership, and the last Carfax-reported odometer reading was 159k in 2006. True chassis mileage is unknown.

The turbocharged 2.0L 4G63T inline-four reportedly had the internals replaced by the previous owner with Wiseco pistons, Eagle rods, and other components. After acquiring the car the seller tore down the engine, verified the modifications, and had the crankshaft magnafluxed and balanced. The seller subsequently installed a Lancer Evo 16g turbocharger, new ACT 2100 clutch, manifold, intercooler, piping, and more detailed on a build sheet presented in the gallery.
